How to find an excellent home inspector for a real estate sale

On Behalf of | May 24, 2018 | Real Estate Transactions

As you prepare to buy or sell a home, there is a very important aspect of the transaction that should never be overlooked — the home inspection. All properties must be properly inspected prior to signing contracts in real estate transactions. The reason for this is so any issues found can be disclosed and repaired prior to new ownership taking over. Here’s how you can find an excellent home inspector.

Try to look for a home inspector prior to finding a home to purchase. If you do it the other way around, you might have to accept the first inspector you meet. He or she could simply be in the profession for the money and not try to determine whether there are issues with properties that could affect the transaction.

Each inspector you meet should be able to answer your questions. Ask them how long they’ve been an inspector, how long they’ve been working in Fort Lauderdale, where they acquired their license, how many inspections they have conducted and other pertinent questions.

You should use an inspector who has a wide range of knowledge about homes, not a specialized person such as an HVAC repair person or a plumber. An inspector with wide-ranging knowledge will be able to conduct the entire inspection of the home.

Pick an inspector who has no affiliation with the seller of the home or the real estate company involved with the transaction. This will help to ensure that the inspection is done correctly and thoroughly.

The home inspector you use in a real estate transaction in Fort Lauderdale is very important. You don’t want someone who simply comes in and says there are no issues. You need an inspector who will look at every aspect of the property to find legitimate problems.
