This moves the case to court where a judge will rule as to whether you don’t own the money or do owe the money.

Involuntary liens are placed on homes when property owners fail to pay their taxes. This includes income and property taxes. If you owe back taxes to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), you need to pay those taxes to have the lien removed from your home.

You can also satisfy the payment of a lien on your home by taking proceeds from the sale and paying off the debt attached to the lien. Make sure the title company and you are on the same page with how this will be handled.
